Writing the blog today has just a touch of irony as my sleep was assisted by a gummy, so without the hangover let’s get you caught up the eldest of the Schiessl Clan. We’ve been rather busy with trip planning, prepping, and packing. Had the coach washed and waxed so it will look good for the beginning of the season as well as guaranteeing rain in the future. Since we must spend an extra two weeks here in Brownsville, the spiders have had an opportunity to re-web the coach, so it’s now a daily chore to knock down spider webs!

We have made a whack-a-mole decision. We’ve purchased another lot within the park. It’s ten lots farther south, but with a total cover over not only our outside sitting area, but the RV as well. It should keep things much cooler and save us on some electricity. We’ll be attempting to sell our present lot, but if we don’t get the price we’re looking for, then we’ll just use it as rental property for the coming winter.

The pictures speak for themselves. The fifth wheel that you see on the property will not be there as the previous owners, Jim and Kat, are taking that with them.

The decision to buy the property came about after looking at some stick-built houses here in south Texas RGV. While they are quite nice, even at only 1200 sq ft2 we are just not ready to settle into the lifestyle. We really enjoy the space provided by our RV and the associated lifestyle.

Healthwise we are both doing well. Our morning ritual involves co-bandaging each other. I put a pressure dressing on Vicki’s toe while she changes the dressing on my head. I’m due to have the stitches pulled by Vicki on the day we leave, but I think we’ll do that the day before. I’ve also got an appointment with the VA to have my hearing checked as we finally move forward with possibly getting on disability. Not holding my breath on that one but jumping through the hoops might be a rewarding thing.

The weather has certainly turned hot here in south Texas with our first days of 90+ temperatures.

Got through the birthday season successfully as our children and grandchildren all completed another trip around the sun. Keep sending positive energy Annalise’s way as her new knee is in but the rehab, as expected, is painful.

Looking forward to spending time with Vicki’s Aunt Teresa and family as we start our trek to see the east coast. Other than that, really not too much else to report other than we are still loving retirement.

You are becoming a land Baron. Keep it up, and they will have to rename the resort.

  2. Hello you two
The new place looks great, I like the cover for the RV it will make a big difference keeping things cooler. I like the sitting area with the overhead fans as well. I’m in agreement with you as to the lifestyle and buying a fixed structure. This way of living is way too much fun.
Glad to hear you are both doing well health wise, we have returned to Vancouver and started our multiple health check appointments, so far so good, even Oscar was poked and prodded at the Vet much to his displeasure.
Safe travels on your trek northward sounds like another amazing adventure.
    Miss you guys a bunch
    Take care big hugs
