Back In Brownsville

Sorry for not posting yesterday, but to be honest the last week was a blur. We drove in from Las Vegas and we had a couple of days of 250+ miles a day which takes a toll on us. Guess we’re not as spry as we once thought, but hey, it’s still cool being retired.

So headed to Brownsville in search of the 72 and were we disappointed. We left Las Vegas on a 60 degree day last week and that was the warmest weather we hit on the whole trip back to Brownsville. We did hit a nice harvest host and enjoyed a Pinot Grigio as you can see in the photo. Nothing exciting to report for the drive as most of Arizona, New Mexico and Texas for the most part are extremely boring!!!!

One of the highlights of the trip was being able to watch our grandsons in their spotlight spring sports. Oliver wrestled and played 5 v 5 football and Emmett had a baseball tournament. Oliver was semi-successful in wrestling, although he was pinned twice, his effort was really good for never having wrestled. His football skills were off the chart Saturday as he took on bigger and older kids and kicked butt! So proud. Emmett had a three-game series and won all three of his games. He even pitched the final game of the tournament and brought them home with an outstanding pitching performance. HIs team scored 37 runs while only giving up 5 in three games.

We made it to Brownsville around 11 on Tuesday and have been unpacking ever since. The weather is still lousy, however there is hope this weekend. It is a bit humid here, but that’s normal. I’m going to the Doctor to get the hip replacement train started so hopefully when we get back from our April cruise, I’ll have a new titanium hip. Will keep you appraised. Did I mention we’re still loving retirement?
