Blog 2.0 : The Most Recent Update

As stated in the previous edition of our blog, you’re basically caught up with our existence, so now I’ll just be keeping you updated as events happen. Some absolutely awesome news that we can finally reveal, my daughter Elisabeth is getting married!!! She and Justin are going to tie the knot in Las Vegas (maybe) on the 21st of October. So, our East Coast Jaunt will now include a trip towards the West Coast. At least the Superbowl will have come and gone! Elisabeth is taking the term success at your job to a whole new level. Her work has not gone unnoticed as she is receiving a 30k performance bonus! So proud of all that she has accomplished in her role at her company.

Also as mentioned before, we are seeing doctors more now than ever before in our lives. Vicki is going in for surgery this coming Tuesday for a hammer toe repair. It sounds like a simple procedure, small incision, release the tendons or scar tissue hammering the toe, insert a screw to straighten, then close. All done under local anesthesia and sent home after a few hours in the post-surgery suite of the hospital. We’re going to toe-proof the rig to insure there will be no late-night walk into a coffee table toe slam. Which is usually accompanied by a tirade that would make Samuel L. Jackson blush! This Monday past I had my ear skin graft. I am completely cancer free as a result. The graft went well and only once has to utter motherfather when they numbed my ear. Wow that stuff hurts! They also made a 4-inch incision on my chest to get the graft. That’s what is the most uncomfortable. Now it looks like my Green Bay tattoo is underlined! I get the stitches out in 3 weeks which seems a bit excessive for stitches to stay in, but I’m not a medical professional, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express.

Golf has basically been on hold recently. However, when I do get on the course, I’m still hitting the ball fairly well, although not quite as far. Our course here doesn’t have sand traps; however it does make up for that with water hazards. It’s not unusual for me to lose a golf ball on number 1 as the water dragons lurk just below the surface of the resaca waiting to devour another of my found Callaway golf balls. I’ve taken to sacrificing a range ball to appease the dragons to no avail. Luckily other golfers suffer the same fate on #15 and I gather 3-6 replacements each morning. Literally have a 5-gallon bucket of golf balls.

The past few days, the weather has been nice albeit windy. Played golf in 35-50 mph wind, which made the round rather interesting. When the wind was at our backs, the drives were impressive. Playing into the wind, however, made par 3’s neigh impossible to reach in regulation. Golf in Texas is certainly an interesting proposition.

I try not to be political on this blog, but I just must speak up. Can those that have drank the Trump Kool-Aid please explain why you still support this guy? His house of cards is crumbling, and his lies keep piling up. How on earth can you possibly believe he would be good for this country? With a do-nothing congress that can’t pass a law to save their lives, why on earth would a crook at the helm be any better? I’m willing to listen to anyone’s rationale for supporting Trump if it is backed up with facts and data. Researchable facts, not Newsmax, not Fox, not MSNBC, real data and facts. Please convince me of your support or else look to revise your stance.

Sorry, I just had to get that out. After finishing our taxes, we’ll use our tax refund to fund our cruise with our youngest grandson, Emmett. As with the other grandsons, after they turned 12, we promised them a cruise with us. It’s an opportunity to enjoy them as a child before they make the transition to teen and are not lost forever, but grandparents tend to shuffle back into the background of their life tapestry.

Not much else left to report for today’s edition, so will close for now, but we’re still loving retirement.
