We are Back!!

After an extended hiatus and several requests from you folks, we have returned to another try at this blog thing. We’re going to really make an effort to keep this thing on track for weekly publication. There have been several milestones, experiences, and noteworthy events since we last posted to our blog, so the next several posts will be a retrospective of what we have seen and done since we last posted.

As to our present status, we are still full-time RVers and truly loving the lifestyle it affords us. At the time of this post, we are in the middle of the Arizona desert, boondocking on BLM land and checking out the big RV show that is associated with Quartzite Arizona. Having previously attended this little soiree Pre-Covid 2019 we are a bit disappointed at the size of the attendance. When we drove in previously, we started seeing RVs in the desert almost 10 miles out of Quartzite on BLM land. This time however, they are all within 3 miles of town if you are coming from the south. We haven’t explored the North portion, but my guess is that it is basically the same.

Yours truly at our campsite in Quartzite.

We did hook up with some friends we met during the onset of Covid in 2019. Joe and Annette W from Wisconsin. They were one of two other couples who were trapped with us in Harlengen Texas at ‘Paradise’ RV park. That’s another story for another day. We had described Quartzite as a mecca one must come to, but sadly in this post covid era, not quite what it used to be. But we are making the best of it and it was truly a ball having them around and sharing the experience. They chose not to rough it in the desert and are staying in Quartzite at an RV park complete with pool. Not a necessity as the thermometer has not jumped above 75 since arriving. We have been spending copious amounts of money on necessities, tires, windsocks, cleaning kits, tire covers, etc, so we know that we can keep the economy moving forward.

With each blog post, I’ll spend a paragraph or two retracing our adventures of the previous year to catch you up to speed and put context to some of the stories I relate to now. January started with a bang, literally, in Mesa Arizona. We spent a good deal of time with our wonderful Canadian Friends Ron and Charlene. They are so down to earth. Great friends and they’ve given us great news! They are getting married after 20 years of cohabitation. Ron finally popped the question and they’re going to Vegas in February to make it all legal. It’s going to be at the White Chapel and Elvis is going to officiate the ceremony. They invited us so needless to say we couldn’t get the ‘we’re going!’ out fast enough. So instead of heading directly back to Texas, we’re going to Vegas Baby!!! After the wedding, we are heading straight back to Texas to get ready for a cruise with our middle grandson Oliver. More details on that in our next post.

So welcome back to our blog. Please make positive or (gasp) negative comments as you see fit, but please do it respectfully. I’ll try to stay as apolitical as I can, but sometimes this crazy world and my self medication sometimes makes that impossible.;-) But finally, did I mention, we are still loving retirement.
