Viva Las Vegas!

The clouds have parted, the sun is shining, and choirs of Angels were signing ‘Alleluia’. Wednesday we noticed that $168.39 was taken from our bank account. With tears in my eyes, I checked at BCBSTX and there it was….I have medical insurance!!! After being on hold for over 8 hours total, I’ve beaten back the bureaucracy, outsmarted the robo call director, and spoken to someone who can actually help me get medical insurance. It only took the better part of two months. But finally it is done!!! I actually have a doctors appointment upon our return to Brownsville. That will mean finally I Can move forward with this hip.

Winter’s icy grip on the desert southwest is easing just a bit. Here in Yuma the thermometer is no longer dropping into the 30’s and during the late afternoon its jumping into the 80’s. This is so much nicer, although with the winds sometimes blowing in excess of 20 mph it still feels a bit chilly. Have had the opportunity to sit by the pool and at least lose the Washinton State alabaster look.

Went to the Yuma Rodeo with Annette and Joe. I can now truthfully say ‘this ain’t my first rodeo!’. This was certainly an experience. I’ve never been so surrounded by rednecks in my entire life. Iwas a bunch of hurry up and wait as they prepped the events. It was a good time for sure. Just a bit disappointed that they made part of the program political. I get that alot of Arizonans don’t like President Biden, but he is still the president. You don’t make fun of a stutterer even if he is the president. Show some class. I do have to admit I have a new respect for cowboys. Jumping off horses at a full gallop and tackling a 500 lb steer, then wrestling it to the ground. And NFL defensive linemen only have to tackle a quarterback!!

We said goodbye to Yuma on Valentine’s day and put in a rather exceptional driving day for us. Almost 3oo miles and now I remember why we limit the lengths of our drives. Especially through the southwest, damn its boring. Hit a couple of big bumps, aka railroad tracks and dumped the shelves in the back bathroom. Then as we slid out, a mirror got trapped and exploded. Glass shards everywhere. No injuries, just a new step in the process of set up. Will have to go to Walmart for a replacement. Since it was Valentine’s Day, they 7 years of bad luck for breaking a mirror is canceled out. Sorry for the lack of pictures in this addition of the blog. Our upload speeds are notoriously slow and my patience just isn’t quite there yet. I’ll post the photos when we get back to Brownsville and have high speed again.

While in Vegas before our friend’s wedding, we are going to do some touristy stuff. We were fortunate enough to get tickets to the Van Goeh exhibit. WOW! Very impressive. If you have the opportunity, please go see it. It is very moving. We are going see, Bodies, the Pinball Museum and an indoor RV lot. Should be something to report back on. Did I mention we still love retirement! Looking forward to your comments.
