Living like Buffet…Jimmy Buffett

Day 32

After a 284 mile drive, today was a day of recovery. We stayed close to the rig. Most of the day was spent reading, lounging at the pool, and walking the dogs about the park. We did meet some nice folks at the pool who gave us good advice about visiting New York. We discovered how chatty they are and a bit xenophobic and homophobic. Sad really, but still interesting. I did make a hardware store run to pick up some bolts to repair the kickstand on my bicycle. Went full on Tim Allen and drilled out the lightweight threaded screws a replaced it with case hardened nuts, bolts, and lock washers. (now comes the growling and grunting!!) The kickstand ain’t going anywhere now!

After our evening coffee cocktail, I made clam chowder which we enjoyed while watching one of our binge shows, Inkmaster. Even the eliminated tattoos I would wear! Looking forward to getting my next one soon, a biomechanical on my knee to cover the scar from knee surgery all those years ago. Not much else to report other than the fact that we are still loving retirement.

Day 33-35

Nothing spectacular in these past days to report in terms of new things seen and done. We did make a 35 mile drive to Tampa to visit Lazy Days RV. Talk about a bit of overwhelming! Literally acres and acres of RV’s of all shapes and sizes. Taken on a tour after discovering there were none on the lot that fit our needs or wants. It was a bit ironic as we were given the tour. The salesman pointed out the 130 bays used for service. All of the bays had a coach inside, however, not one of the coaches had a technician who was working. That probably explains the poor reviews of service from Lazy Days. Sounds like they have the same problem nationwide, facilities, but no workers willing and able to do the job.

We also went to the grocery store where you have to put a deposit on a shopping cart, Aldi’s. We did find the least expensive eggs we’ve found in quite some time at $2.27/dzn.

Did get a bit of unsettling news from Elisabeth. Frank had an unusual evening of shortness of breath. (SOB) After chatting with us, our suggestion was to take Frank to the walkin the next morning. After about a half hour, Elisabeth wisely called 911 to at least get a set of vitals which all turned out to be normal. Of course the EMT’s wanted to go to the hospital, but with the circumstances presented, we decided to wait until morning. She’ll keep us appraised of the situation, but would appreciate any white light and positive energy you can send his way.

Other than that, we are enjoying the warm weather of Florida and looking forward to heading to Orlando. Did I mention we are still loving retirement?

Day 36

Crisis mode has gone into effect, Frank has taken a turn for the worse and therefore we are going to put Vicki on an airplane back to Washington. Luckily we were able to find airline seats in less than 2 hours and off she’ll go in the wee hours of the morning. After a visit to the walk in clinic the doctor ordered an ambulance. Frank was still having difficultly breathing. After getting to the ER in Everett, he was admitted to the hospital for an angiogram. They found a blockage above the already placed stint and so placed another one. He did well and was released from the hospital about the time Vicki arrived.

Vicki was able to accomplish many familial tasks while there along with some quality time with her father. I bached it back in Hudson Florida and Barrington Hills Encore. To say it is an RV resort is a bit of a misnomer as it was more of a retirement Park model place. A large number of long term worker RVs and old folks in park models. Nice place to stay for a few days, but not much else. There is a huge gap between blogs and I’ll explain it in detail in my next post. Will close for now and here comes the tagline….we’re still loving retirement.
